What is nutritional therapy?
Nutritional therapy encompasses individual prescriptions for diet and
lifestyle to alleviate or prevent ailments and to promote optimal health.
The type of conditions that my clients suffer from varies greatly. Some
clients simply want to check that they are doing the right thing with
regards to healthy eating. Others want to lose weight and some want to
find relief from a few niggling health symptoms.
I also work with clients who have chronic health problems that conventional medicine can find difficult to resolve without the reliance of long term medications. I’ve found my style of nutritional therapy to be an effective solution or support conditions such as allergies, digestive and bowel disorders, hormonal imbalances, fatigue, stress, migraine and skin disorders.
My approach
We are all individuals with different bodies, lifestyles and demands, which can make change easy for some and more difficult for others. My personalized approach takes into account your needs and circumstances to formulate a simple programme with realistic goals. Working at your pace, I aim to identify current factors that are contributing to any symptoms and health conditions and produce easy-to-follow, effective health plans that are tailored to change your life.
Step-by-step
Step 1: Booking
After booking you will receive a Nutrition Questionnaire, Food Diary and Food Analysis to complete and bring with you to your initial consultation. I use this questionnaire as a tool to help gather more in-depth information about you and your diet to help explain the contributory factors behind your symptoms or health condition.
Step 2: Initial Consultation
An hour's consultation leads to a personalized report highlighting the problems and symptoms and the necessary dietary, lifestyle and supplement recommendations with realistic goals and priorities. The report includes 4 forms:
Strategy for Health -
highlighting and linking symptoms and conditions to blockages and imbalances
in your body- Action Plan - - detailing what we're going to do about it, with specific advice for diet and lifestyle which you should follow for 4-6 weeks
- Food checklist - indicating which foods to increase and which to avoid or reduce
- Supplement Programme - details of any recommended nutritional supplements
You'll also receive leaflets on specific conditions or symptoms that we're trying to overcome, details of where to buy healthy foods locally, plus an information sheet on how to maintain a healthy, balanced diet beyond your consultation period.
Step 3: Follow-up consultation
The follow-up to check your progress is normally booked 4 weeks after your initial consultation. Here we assess your progress, make changes to your action plan, set new goals and review your supplements. You will receive a new report containing a Follow-up Sheet, Action Plan, Supplement Programme and new handouts for support if needed.
Step 4: On-going support
You may have a sincere wish to change your eating habits, but the reality is often difficult to achieve without on-going support. I can be contacted via phone or email during office hours to help keep you motivated or answer any quick questions in between your appointments.
